Funambol and a la Mobile announced the availability of enhanced open source sync software for Android. a la Mobile has extended Funambol's SyncML-based Android client to sync additional PIM data, pictures, music and videos. Furthermore, a la Mobile is contributing the enhanced Android client software to the Funambol open source community. Funambol is ensuring that its open source mobile sync server works with the new Android client. The open source client and server software enable Android handsets to sync contacts, calendars, pictures, music and videos with any backend data source and desktop.
a la Mobile began development with the Funambol Android client in August 2008, enhancing it to provide improved sync functionality with additional PIM data including contacts, calendars, pictures, music and video. The company has made the code available to the Funambol community. a la Mobile offers the enhanced sync client in its commercial Android system solution for mobile operators and device manufacturers.
Funambol provides a commercial MobileWe solution that enables billions of phones to perform push email and to sync PIM data and photos with a cloud-based portal, leading email services and desktop apps. MobileWe enables device makers, mobile operators, service providers, portals and ISVs to rapidly deliver a flexible sync service.
The new software is available now.
